Snapshot of how Level 2 rules affect rentals

Changes have been made to the Kiwi rental market as a result of the lockdown, and these have an impact on both landlords and tenants.

Here’s a quick snapshot:

  • No rental increases for an initial period of six months from the start of the virus crisis.
  • No termination of tenancies without mutual consent for a minimum of three months.
  • Tenants can now leave the property after giving notice during Level 2.
  • A tenant’s notice to quit can be revoked so they can stay in the property during the crisis.
  • Routine inspections deferred under Level 4 restrictions are now possible under strict social distancing rules.
