Changes have been made to the Kiwi rental market as a result of the lockdown, and these have an impact on both landlords and tenants.
Here’s a quick snapshot:
- No rental increases for an initial period of six months from the start of the virus crisis.
- No termination of tenancies without mutual consent for a minimum of three months.
- Tenants can now leave the property after giving notice during Level 2.
- A tenant’s notice to quit can be revoked so they can stay in the property during the crisis.
- Routine inspections deferred under Level 4 restrictions are now possible under strict social distancing rules.
