Adding garden color for spring selling campaign

We may be in the middle of winter right now, but it’s only a few weeks before spring and an excellent time to start planning your garden.

It’s a smart play to research the plants you’d love to see this year rather than wander into your local gardening store without a plan and become overwhelmed by the available choices.

Planning isn’t just about choosing the right plants but understanding their best position for sunlight and water.

Height is another important consideration. You need to avoid planting large shrubs in front of smaller flowers and plants. While that seems obvious, it’s incredible how often that happens.

If you’re considering selling your home in the coming spring sales season, turbo-charging your garden is a great idea.

These plants will add fantastic color.

Canna Lily

It has 10 different species and is a native of the American tropics. In the 1800s, it was exported around the world and is now a common sight in Europe, India and Africa. Each species will grow to around 10 feet. The fuschia canna lily features bell-shaped blooms.

Pink China

The Colocasia has unique elephant-ear-shaped leaves. And the more you fertilize and water it, the bigger it will get. The average height is around 7ft. It prefers shade, but if it’s in full sun, ensure it gets plenty of water.

Persian Shield

This Burmese plant is a stunning evergreen that will give your garden a true taste of the tropics. It’s a bushy plant that grows to 3ft and loves heat and humidity.

Golden Valerian

Beautiful yellow flowers are a feature of this grass plant. It loves to self-sow, so watch out! It will bloom from spring to fall. It’s a great choice.

Boone Gladiolus

If you’re looking for a border, this gladiolus will offer perfect peach tones. It won’t bloom for super-long periods, but when it’s in full flower, it’s wonderful. It thrives on full sun and well-drained soil.

Golden Sunset

An Indiangrass (also known as sorghastrum nutans), it’s an American native of olive green foliage that will grow to 6ft. If your garden has rich soil, this is the ideal selection to plant on a fence line.

Blackthorne

This Sanguisorba comes in a variety of colors that will grow up to 5ft. Its rose-like blooms are completed by dense, green foliage.
