Celebrities enjoy busy spring sales season

The spring selling season has been a busy one for celebrities with properties being snapped up from Florida to Portugal.

Here’s a fun breakdown of who’s been buying and selling among our global celebrities. You can make up your own minds about what they purchased, the amount they paid, and if you’d have done the same thing if money were no object!

Actor Chris Evans, aka Captain America, has put his LA home on the market for $7 million and says he’s quitting California for the East Coast. He bought his four-bedroom, 1940s-era property for $3.52 million 12 years ago.

The Avengers star says he wants to be closer to his family – one of the most common reasons for why folks sell.

Music legend Billy Joel has re-listed a 14-acre residence, called MiddleSea, on his Long Island Estate and wants $29.9 million for it – helipad included.

He bought the absolutely stunning property 20 years ago. The New York Post said he had previously tried to sell the land as a three-piece subdivision for $49 million but didn’t find any takers.

The land has a gatehouse, which recently sold for $7 million. Billy, now 76, bought a $10.7 million home in the Hamptons 12 months ago.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has reportedly offloaded his estate in Hunts Point, WA, for $63 million. He bought the property for $37.5 million six years ago. That’s a tidy profit, but loose change for a man estimated by Forbes to be worth $198.2 billion.

Meanwhile, the Florida mansion that featured in the 2012 movie, Magic Mike – it starred Channing Tatum – is on the market. The stunning property on Florida’s Gulf Coast has 7,825 square feet of living space. You can snap it up for $12 million.

Americans who are selling up and leaving the country have a new favourite destination – Portugal. A recent survey has found that it tops a list of countries that includes Spain, the UK, Canada, Costa Rica, Italy and New Zealand. A combination of lifestyle, taxes and relaxed visa rules put Portugal ahead of the rest.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are Portugal fans. They splurged more than $14 million on a property inside the CostaTerra Gold and Ocean Club in 2023, according to UK press reports. They’re still calling California home, though.

One person who’s not is Lindsay Lohan, who’s been telling the world why she’s quit Los Angeles for Dubai. She says she found LA stressful. “Even when I’m taking my son to the park in LA, I get stressed. I’m like, ‘are there any cameras?’.” Why’s she telling us this? She has a new movie coming out, a sequel to Freaky Friday.
