If there’s “Someone Special” in your life, then it’s pretty certain you’re already starting to think about how you can make Valentine’s Day truly magical.
Flowers – preferably roses, coloured red – and a lovely card have become prerequisites for the love-struck guy.
But it doesn’t have to be the man who has to make the move, of course!
Nothing says “I love you” more than creating a wonderful atmosphere of love and attention in your own home and serving a beautifully prepared meal.
That sounds simple, until you start digging into the details.
What’s the right approach? How can you make the evening special without it becoming cheesy or over-the-top?
Here are some great tips that will help you host a loving and memorable Valentine’s night.
Good luck!
Set The Mood: Candles are a classic choice for romance, but you can also use fairy lights, string lights or the dimmer switch to create a cody ambiance.
Mood Music: After the lighting, surely music is the next essential component to creating a romantic atmosphere. The choice is yours, but it’s probably best to take that thrash-metal vinyl off the turntable!
Table Setting: A crisp white tablecloth and matching napkins, with a Valentine’s Day theme of hearts or flowers, will add a touch of elegance.
Centrepiece: A beautiful floral arrangement is a must-have. Roses are the traditional choice, but a bouquet of other blooms is more than acceptable.
Personal Touch: Why not hand-write the menu, or place a gift on the table?
The Meal: Stay in your lane. Don’t be experimental. It’s not the right moment. And if cooking is not your thing, order takeout from a nice restaurant. Don’t leave the order until the last moment. Make your request a few days ahead.
On Arrival: Offer your date a special cocktail or a glass of wine to start the evening. Have a selection of sodas on hand, too.
Disconnect: Unplug, and focus on enjoying each other’s company.
Dress Nicely: How you do that is your call. But make the effort.
Extra Touches: Be careful to not go over the top. Does scattering rose petals on the floor leading to the table sound a bit much?
