It’s always fun to change up the decor of your home, especially if you can time it with the seasons.
For many homeowners, it’s all too easy to become a little bored or even blasé about your surroundings until one day you decide to do something drastic.
So many of us love to garden at the start of spring so that our yards are looking great for the following six months.
And now that fall has arrived, you can take that philosophy indoors and give one or two of your favorite rooms a seasonal facelift.
It’s a great idea to give your living areas a seasonal touch with throw blankets and cushions of golds, browns and ocre.
The kitchen is also an area that benefits from the occasional spruce up. And fall is a perfect time to do it. Here are some ideas for you:
- Scents and Sensibilities: The smells of fall embrace cinnamon and spiced drinks, and the wonderful aroma of pie. Always have something going on in the kitchen to make you feel warm and cozy.
- Scope Decorations: Before you begin giving your kitchen a fall makeover, make a plan. Avoid decorating in areas where you prepare food. And also ensure you don’t use anything flammable near the cooktop or range.
- Keep It Simple: An easy idea is to arrange branches featuring leaves or berries in jars, and leave them on an open shelf. Occasionally, refresh them and keep the water clean.
- Clean Theme: Why not buy dish towels or napkins with a fall theme? These will be a constant reminder of the time of year. We often do something similar to celebrate the Holidays with themed accessories featuring holly, berries and snow.
- Cutting Board: If you have a wooden cutting board that has dulled over the years, this is the perfect time to give it some oil to bring out those autumnal colors. You can use it as a baseboard for a dry flower arrangement in a corner of the kitchen.
- Center of Attention: If you’re lucky enough to have a spacious kitchen with a table, a lovely centerpiece of dried flowers is a perfect mood-lifter for the fall season.
- Pumpkin Craft: And if you love craft, working with a pumpkin to create a vase holder is a sensational seasonal project. You need to hollow out the pumpkin to hold the vase at the base and then place some fall blooms in the vase to finish it off.
