Property high on the list of voter concerns

With the presidential campaign in full swing and both candidates confirmed, new research says the affordability of real estate will influence the votes of both homeowners and renters.

Property affordability and the availability of rental properties will impact on how some 53% of owners and renters will vote.

The findings in the Redfin survey, which polled 3,000 Americans, indicate real estate should emerge as a significant factor in the presidential race.

As an experienced real estate professional in our neighborhood, I have listened to similar concerns of many of my clients. However, even now, a committed agent with expert local market knowledge can achieve excellent sales and buying outcomes.

The candidates need to pay attention to the mood of owners and renters. Some 64% of respondents said the health of the real estate market affected their view of the American economy.

Frustration exists about mortgage costs and how they limit the potential to upgrade their properties without having to renegotiate their loans in an environment of high interest rates.

The issue was recognised recently with a new Biden initiative that included a two-year, $5,000 mortgage relief tax. The plan also included the promise of an additional 2 million homes to be built.

If you are considering selling your current property and purchasing your next dream home, please do not hesitate to contact me. The knowledge and network of an experienced agent will help you navigate the current market, giving you the best chance to maximize the value of your home while providing the best range of available properties that suit your needs.

Below, I’ve listed the six most essential skills of a real estate professional to help you make the best home-buying selection.

Communication – An ideal agent will build rapport. They should understand your needs and demonstrate strong negotiation skills. Pay attention to how they listen to you and relate complex issues simply.

Negotiation – Validate examples of how the agent has negotiated recent deals. They should include times when they sold properties of a similar style to your own. How they sold a two-bedroom apartment is not much help if you’re selling a five-bedroom family home.

Market Knowledge – You cannot beat an agent with a deep knowledge of the neighborhood. These agents will maximize the prospect of achieving the best possible price for your property. They will also have a great network of other agents to help you find your next dream home.

Marketing – An agent must be a good marketer. They need to be able to identify and reach the target buying group for your property.

Commitment – An absent agent is no use. Ensure they make themselves available to you and respond promptly.
