Our gratitude for Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving just around the corner it’s the perfect time to reflect on the past year in real estate and consider what we have to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving is when we have all the family under one roof. It reminds us of the importance of home and heart. It’s a time to reflect on what’s important to us, the people we care about, taking steps to connect more closely with loved ones and creating rituals that remind us to feel gratitude.

Below are some fun ideas for old-school entertaining this Thanksgiving to help you turn off the devices and help you reconnect with loved ones.

Old favorites

It’s hard to beat the old party games. Get everyone moving to stave off the turkey coma. Consider games with no age barrier and an element of the physical such as charades, or enjoy some cross generational trivia and Thanksgiving bingo.

Scavenger hunt

If you’ve got a lot of children to entertain, let them blow off some energy with a Thanksgiving-themed scavenger hunt. Stash some seasonal treasures around the house and backyard and set up clues, or shout ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ as they get close.

Be board

Provide an outlet for family competitiveness and break out the board games. A few modern favorites include Ticket to Ride, Azul and Scattegories. For the sake of family harmony, avoid serious time-consumers like Monopoly! A fast game is a happy game and provides more opportunities for rematches!

Be thankful

Another nice touch is to create a gratitude book and ask everyone to write down what they are grateful for this Thanksgiving. Inviting them to share what they’ve written can be a heartwarming moment in the day and create a lasting memento that is fun to look back on across the years each Thanksgiving.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving folks – and thank you!
