6 reasons to add a pool cabana to your home

During the hot days of summer, with the cricket and tennis underway, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than lazing next to the swimming pool?

If you’ve got a pool, this is a great time to be selling – the possibilities of summer are endless, and the sight of a crystal clear pool of blue fires the imagination of every buyer. And if there’s one feature that buyers love as much as a pool, it’s a cabana.

It’s an extension of the home, rather than just somewhere to seek shade from the heat of the sun and stash the pool toys.

Cabanas have multiple uses, including a home gym, office, man (or woman!) cave and even a space for teenagers who spread their belongings across in every room of the house.

As an experienced real estate agent in our area, I have to confess to loving a good cabana, and my enthusiasm rubs off on my buyers, too.

Cabanas are not just ideal for summer but also offer a fabulous extra, private space during the winter months.

If you’re preparing to sell, it’s essential to sell the benefits clearly so potential buyers appreciate the asset. Here are six great reasons for owning a pool with a cabana.

  1. Increases the value – A cabana will increase the value of your home – no question about that. The extra space might even win over buyers who are reluctant about your home because of the maintenance commitment of a pool.
  2. More space – There’s not a buyer in the market right now who would say “no” to more space. A cabana offers a private sanctuary or a multi-purpose room that is flexible and very hard to beat.
  3. Test of time – A swimming pool is a significant investment and it provides a lot of pleasure. You want it to look its best and retain its value over the years. Shade cloth perishes and needs regular replacement, whereas a cabana is a perfect complement and will make your home feel like a resort.
  4. Weather-proof – Shade sails are fine, but there’s something solid and dependable about a cabana. And you don’t have to worry about a cabana if a big summer storm is brewing.
  5. Heat relief – Unless you’re eight years old, you’re not going to spend all your time in the pool! It’s nice to find refuge from the heat in a cabana that’s furnished and has a fridge full of cold drinks. And it makes watching the kids in the pool completely enjoyable.
  6. Great entertainer – Modern cabanas can be fitted out with bars and TVs. Designs will integrate a barbeque and wood-fired pizza oven. If you love having people over, there is no better way to create a lifetime of friendships and memories.
